Stefano Tacconi (born May 13, 1957 in Perugia ) is a former Italian football goalkeeper .

Career as a player

In the club

Stefano Tacconi learned to play football at Spoleto Calcio, his first professional station was Sambenedettese . He made his Serie A debut for US Avellino in the 1980/81 season, where he played until 1983. For the 1983/84 season he moved to Juventus Turin .

He was a regular goalkeeper at Juve for ten years and won two Italian championships , the European Cup , the World Cup , the European Cup Winners' Cup , the UEFA Cup and a Coppa Italia .

In 1994 he finally moved to Genoa , where he played for a year and in the Serie B relegation. In 1995 he ended his playing career.

In the national team

Stefano Tacconi made seven appearances for Italy . He made his debut against Argentina on June 10, 1987 , and played his last game against Belgium on February 13, 1991 . Tacconi took part with the Squadra Azzurra at the European Championship in 1988 and the World Championship in 1990 as a substitute goalkeeper.

Political ambitions after the end of the career

In 1999 he ran for the right-wing Alleanza Nazionale in the European elections , but was unsuccessful. Six years later, in 2005, he announced that he wanted to run for the office of President of Lombardy for the right-wing Nuovo MSI , but ultimately failed to collect the necessary signatures to be eligible for election. In 2006 he again ran for the Alleanza Nazionale for a place on the Milan City Council, but was not elected.
