Sebastiano "Sebino" Nela (born March 13, 1961 in Rapallo ) is a former Italian football player .
For the Italian national football team , the defender , who could be used on both wings, played five games. In the club he played for CFC Genoa , AS Roma and SSC Napoli .
Career
In the club
Sebastiano Nela began his career at CFC Genoa , for which he made his professional debut in Serie B in 1978/79 . As early as 1979/80 he was a regular at the Grifoni and in the following season he rose to Serie A with the team trained by Gigi Simoni .
For the 1981/82 season Nela moved to AS Roma , for whom he celebrated his debut in Italy's top division on September 13, 1981 in a 0-0 draw against US Avellino at the age of 20. The defender was immediately a regular at the capital club and won the 1982/83 season under Nils Liedholm the only Italian championship of his career. In the following season he won the Coppa Italia with Roma against Hellas Verona . In Europe Champions Cup you had to in the final of the Liverpool FC 2: 4 after penalties beaten. In 1985/86 Nela won again the Coppa Italia with AS Roma, in 1987 he sustained an injury in an accident that put him out of action for almost a year.
After his third Coppa Italia victory in 1990/91, Sebastiano Nela left Roma in 1992 and went to SSC Napoli , where he ended his professional career in 1994.
In total, Nela played 315 Serie A games and scored 16 goals.
In the national team
Nela completed a total of five international matches in the Italian U-21 team from 1981 to 1982 under the then national coach Azeglio Vicini . He made his debut on September 23, 1981 in the away game against Bulgaria for the Azzurrini . In his five appearances in the U-21, the teams scored only three goals, Italy won one game.
At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , where Nela participated in the soccer tournament with Italy , he completed three games and finished fourth with his team.
For the senior national team of Italy , the defensive player completed his first international match on May 22, 1984, which was lost 1-0 to Germany . In the three following games against Austria , Greece and Malta , a victory for the Squadra Azzurra could be achieved. The high point of his national team career was his appointment to the Italian squad for the 1986 World Cup . Nela made his last appearance on April 18, 1987 again against Germany, the game ended goalless.
