Marco Cassetti (born May 29, 1977 in Brescia , Italy ) is an Italian football player who is under contract with Watford FC in the Football League Championship . Cassetti can play in defense as well as in defensive midfield.

Career

In the club

Marco Cassetti began his career at Montichiari and Lumezzane . In 2000 he moved to Hellas Verona for whom he played his first Serie A game on September 30, 2000 in a 1-1 draw against AS Bari . Cassetti remained until 2003 in Verona , 2001/02 he got into with the Club Series B from. In the three years he played 61 games for Hellas Verona and scored seven goals.

For the 2003/04 season , Cassetti moved back to Serie A for US Lecce , where he stayed for three years. In the following season he made the final breakthrough under coach Zdeněk Zeman . Cassetti showed strong performances, reached eleventh place in Serie A with the southern Italian club and was also recommended for the national team. 2005/06 was followed by relegation with Lecce from Serie A.

In the summer of 2006, Marco Cassetti moved to AS Roma . In five seasons with Roma , he made 142 league appearances, in which he scored four goals. After he could not prevail in the 2011/12 season at AS Roma, he switched to league rivals Udinese Calcio in the 2012/13 season , but the Cassetti loaned them directly to the English second division club Watford . After a successful season at Watford, Cassetti finally moved to the championship after the season, without having played a single game for Udinese.

In the national team

Marco Cassetti made his debut for the Italian national team on March 30, 2005 in a 0-0 win against Iceland under coach Marcello Lippi . He played a total of five international matches for the Squadra Azzura .
