Aleksandar Kolarov ( Serbian - Cyrillic Александар Коларов ; born November 10, 1985 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian football player who is under contract with AS Roma and plays for the Serbian national team.

Club career

Aleksandar Kolarov began his career with the Serbian second division club FK Čukarički , with whom he also played first-class in 2004/05. In early 2006, the defender moved to OFK Belgrade , for whom he scored five goals in 38 games. In the summer of 2007 Kolarov went to the Italian Serie A , where he signed a long-term contract with the then Champions League participant Lazio Rome . Since then he has also been used regularly at Lazio. In the summer of 2010, Kolarov moved to Manchester City for the equivalent of € 22.7 million .

For the 2017/18 season he moved to AS Roma .

National team

With the Serbian national team, Aleksander Kolarov qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . He was used in two out of three games during the World Cup.

Eight years later he was part of the Serbian squad for the 2018 World Cup as captain . In the opening game against Costa Rica , he scored the 1-0 winning goal for his team with a free kick. Nevertheless, Serbia was eliminated after the preliminary round.

Playful characteristics

Besides defense, his strengths lie in his shooting power, which makes him a good free kick taker. In Serbia, he is compared in this regard to Siniša Mihajlović , a successful free-kick taker.
