The League Cup 2015/16 (sponsored name Capital One Cup ) was the 56th edition of the tournament . The tournament started with 92 clubs.
The competition started with the first round on August 11, 2015 and ended with the final at Wembley Stadium in London on February 28, 2016.
First round
The draw for the first round took place on June 16, 2015. All 72 teams in the Football League competed in the first round. The matches were held between August 11th and 13th, 2015.
Second round
The twelve Premier League clubs that failed to qualify for a European competition last season got involved in the second round . The draw took place on August 13, 2015. The matches took place on August 22, 23, 25 and 26, 2015.
Third round
From the third round, the eight clubs that had qualified for the European competitions for the current season also had to compete. The draw took place on August 25, 2015. The matches took place on September 22nd and 23rd, 2015.
