The competition started on August 18, 1992 with the first round and ended on April 18, 1993 with the final at Wembley . The title went to Arsenal FC with a 2-1 win in the final over Sheffield Wednesday . Arsenal won the League Cup for the second time after 1987 (2-1 against Liverpool) and increased this success just under a month later by winning the FA Cup in 1992/93 . The defeated final opponent was again Sheffield Wednesday. Arsenal became the first team to win both English cup competitions in one year.
