The EFL Cup 2017/18 (sponsored name Carabao Cup ) is the 58th edition of the tournament . All 92 clubs of the four top English leagues in 2017/2018 will take part in the competition.
The competition started on August 8, 2017 with the first round.
First round
70 clubs took part in the first round. The 20 clubs of the Premier League 2017/18 as well as Hull City and FC Middlesbrough only entered the competition in the 2nd and 3rd round.
The draw for the first round took place this year in Bangkok , the seat of the sponsor. The matches were held between August 8 and 22, 2017.
