Bernardo Mota Veiga de Carvalho e Silva (born August 10, 1994 in Lisbon ), Bernardo Silva for short , is a Portuguese football player . The right winger is under contract with Manchester City and is a Portuguese international .

Career

Bernardo Silva played for Benfica Lisbon when he was young . After the end of his senior years, he moved up to the squad of the second team that plays in the Segunda League . On August 10, 2013 he made his debut in a 0-0 draw against CD Trofense . He scored his first goal on September 23, 2013 in a 3-1 win over Sporting Braga B for a 3-0 lead in the 51st minute. On May 10, 2014, he came to his only appearance for the first team in the Primeira Liga in the 1: 2 defeat against FC Porto .

For the 2014/15 season he was awarded to AS Monaco in Ligue 1 . In January 2015, the Monegasque committed Silva and provided him with a contract with a term until June 30, 2019. With the club he won the French championship in the 2016/17 season and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League .

For the 2017/18 season , Silva moved to Manchester City in the English Premier League . With the club he won the league cup on February 25, 2018 after a 3-0 win in the final against Arsenal FC and the championship at the end of the season .

His contract in Manchester runs until 2025.

Bernardo Silva took part with the Portuguese U19 national team in the U19 European Championship in Lithuania in the summer of 2013 and failed with his team in the semi-finals against Serbia . On October 15, 2013 he made his debut in the 2-0 victory in Azerbaijan for the U21 team . On his second appearance on November 18, 2013, he scored two goals in a 4-3 win in Israel . On March 31, 2015, he played for the first time in the senior national team in a friendly against Cape Verde (0-2) . He was appointed to the Portuguese squad for the U21 European Championship in the Czech Republic in summer 2015 . He reached the final with the team, in which they were defeated by Sweden on penalties , and was appointed to the team of the tournament .

On September 1, 2016, Silva scored his first international goal in a 5-0 win in the friendly against Gibraltar . In the summer of 2017, he and the team took part in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia and finished third with them. In May 2018 he was appointed to the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia by national coach Fernando Santos . In the tournament, Silva was used in all four games of his team, which failed in the round of 16 with 1: 2 to Uruguay .

In June 2019, Silva won the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League with the national team and was also named best player in the finals.
