Philip "Phil" Walter Foden (born May 28, 2000 in Stockport ) is an English football player . The midfielder is under contract with Manchester City and is an U21 international .
Career
society
Foden moved to Manchester City in 2009 when he was eight . After going through all the youth teams there, Foden moved up to the first team for the 2017/18 season . In addition, he collected match practice for City's U23 team in the U23 Premier League and had nine missions with six goals by the end of the season. On November 21, 2017, Foden was used by coach Pep Guardiola for the first time in the first team and made his debut in the 1-0 home win against Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Champions League , after being substituted on for Yaya Touré in the 75th minute . On December 16, 2017, Foden played in the Premier League for the first time in a 4-1 home win against Tottenham Hotspur . In December 2017 he was named "Young Sports Personality of the Year 2017" by the BBC . By the end of the season, Foden was used twice in the League Cup , u. a. in the final on February 25, 2018 against Arsenal , in which he won the cup with City after a 3-0 win. In addition to three Champions League games, Foden also made five league appearances and was part of City's championship team . At the age of 17 years and 350 days, he became the youngest player to be honored as English football champion .
At the end of November 2019, Foden was voted seventh in the Golden Boy election for the best U21 player in Europe of 2019.
National team
Foden passes since the U16 juniors teams of the English Football Association . He played with the U17 team at the U17 European Championship in Croatia in May 2017 . Foden was used in all six games of his team and scored two goals. His team became vice European champions after losing the final on penalties to Spain . Then Foden was appointed to the team of the tournament. In October 2017 he was part of the English squad for the U17 World Cup in India . Foden played in all seven of his team's games, scored three times and was named best player of the tournament. In the final against Spain, which England won 5-2, he scored two goals and thus secured his team the world title.
On March 27, 2018, Foden made his debut in the 2-0 defeat against Macedonia in the U19 national team . In October 2018 he was used for the first time in the U21 selection .
In August 2020, Foden was appointed to the senior national team for the first time for the games against Iceland and Denmark in the UEFA Nations League .
