Paul Vincent Davis (born December 9, 1961 in Dulwich ) is a former English football player .

life and career

Davis began his career as a teenager at Arsenal FC in 1977 . A year later he got a professional contract. The left-footed midfielder made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in 1980 . Davis was a member of the Gunners' successful 1980s team. With the Londoners he won the English championship once and the English league cup once in the 1980s . In 1988 Davis hit the headlines after a fist fight with Southampton FC midfielder Glenn Cockerill . Davis broke Cokerill's cheekbones , was suspended for nine games and fined £ 3,000. After this incident, he won the English Cup in 1993 and the English League Cup again with Arsenal in the same year. A year later he won the Cup Winners' Cup . After 18 years in England, he moved from Arsenal to Stabæk Fotball . After only a year in Norway , Davis was still playing for Brentford FC . In 1997 Davis became a youth coach at Arsenal FC. He left the Gunners for good six years later and was Paul Gascoigne's assistant coach at Kettering Town between October and December 2005 .
