Javier Matías Pastore (born June 20, 1989 in Cordoba ) is an Argentine football player . The attacking midfielder is under contract with AS Roma and plays for the Argentine national team .
Career
Pastore started his career in early 2007 with his training association CA Talleres . Argentinian scouts quickly recognized his talent, so he signed six months later as a prospective player with CA Huracán , a member of the 1st Argentinian league, the Primera División . Because of his striking stature (78 kilograms with a height of 187 cm) he was nicknamed El Flaco (Spanish: the slim one).
Pastore made his debut on May 24, 2008, when he came on for Federico Poggi in the 1-0 defeat at CA River Plate in the 71st minute. During that season, he was not used again. In the following season he developed into a regular player and top performer, he came to a total of 30 appearances in the Torneo Apertura and Clausura, 23 of them from the start. With eight goals and six assists, he became one of the most popular players in the league.
In July 2009, the attacking midfielder signed a five-year contract with the Italian Serie A club US Palermo .
