The competition for the Coupe de France in the 2014/15 season was the 98th edition of the French football cup for men's teams.

Defending champion En Avant Guingamp failed in the semi-finals against second division AJ Auxerre , who lost in the Paris Saint-Germain final . For Paris it was the ninth win in this competition, for Auxerre the second defeat in his sixth finals. This pairing of the endings had already existed twelve years earlier ; At that time, the AJA was able to prevail against PSG.

While the third - and second division clubs as well as eleven participants - not since this season only the regional cup winners - seven French overseas territories already in the regional of the subdivisions of the National Association French Football Federation (FFF) organized qualifying rounds intervene in the competition must - the third division in the 5th, the last two groups in the 7th round - for the first division - and possibly a lower class defending champion - the competition does not start until the thirty-second finals (start of the main competition). Only in this round will the 64 clubs qualified nationwide be divided into four regional pots of 16 teams each, in which approximately the same number of teams from the same league affiliation will be represented. From the sixteenth finals on, this presorting is no longer applicable and the competition will only be played according to the classic cup mode: fixtures are drawn from all clubs still in the competition without seed lists and only one game is played at the end of which a winner has to be determined (even if it is through Extra time and penalty shoot-outs), which then qualifies for the next round while the loser is eliminated. Home rights are also determined by drawing lots for each match, but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven that are at least two league levels higher are automatically given home rights.

The lower-class clubs also fight for the title as the most successful outsider, which is associated with cash prizes. This side competition, which is currently mainly sponsored by PMU , is officially called Classement des Petits Poucets (in German: "Däumlingsprüfung"). As a club from the ninth league stage, FC Lille Sud failed to move into the thirty-second finals, in which only five sixth division clubs were represented at this event, all of whom were defeated in it.
This time, three overseas teams qualified for the 8th round: AS Saint-Louis from Réunion, US Matoury from Guiana and Club Franciscain from Martinique. Of these, the latter even reached the main competition again after 22 years . The most successful amateur team was the US Concarneau ; the Breton fourth division was only eliminated in the quarterfinals against the defending champion.

The first division clubs gave up at an early stage: only seven of them reached the round of 16, in which four fourth division teams were also represented; In the round of the last eight teams there were only four Ligue 1 clubs and as many lower-class teams.

L1, L2 and D3 represent membership in the first to third league, CFA and CFA2 for the two national amateur leagues, DH (" Division d'Honneur ") for the sixth, regional league level . Results: n / a = after extension, i. E. = on penalties.

(a)According to the regulations, the sixth division Club Franciscain should have had home rights, especially since it was the first to be drawn at the draw. However, based on a " rubber paragraph" in the Cup Statute, the association determines the venue for overseas participants. A petition to play at least in the greater Paris area, where a large number of people from the Antilles live, instead of playing in Nantes , was rejected.
(b) Dinan Léhon has renounced his home right.
