history

The club emerged in 1946 from the merger of Stade Saint-Michel (founded 1918) and Athlétique Club Spinalien (founded 1928) and was called Stade Athlétic d'Épinal . In 1998, the then third division went bankrupt and was re-established under its current name.

League affiliation and achievements

The club has never played in the top division (Division 1, renamed Ligue 1 in 2002 ). However, he has during the ten years in which he was represented in the second division (1974–1979, 1990–1993 and 1995–1997), already had professional status.

In the French cup competition , the Spinaliens were more often in the national main round after the Second World War . Six times of these (1955/56, 1989/90, 1992/93, 1997/98, 2012/13 and 2017/18) they reached the sixteenth finals, in which they were then eliminated. In 2019/20, however, the team playing in the fourth division (National 2) even advanced into the round of the last eight.
