Luçon VF

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Vendée Luçon Football or Luçon VF for short is a football club from the city of Luçon in western France .

The club colors are red and white. The league team plays its home games at the Stade Jean de Mouzon , which has a seating capacity of 7,000. The current head coach is Frédéric Reculeau . (Status May 2013)

history

The club was founded in 1924 under the name Stade Luçonnais ; his footballers used the Stade Phélippon in the early years . Stade was promoted to the regional Division d'Honneur for the first time in the early 1930s . From 1980, the club's first team played - albeit not continuously - in one of the two national amateur leagues . In 1966 a new track cycling stadium , the Stade Eugène-Beaussire , was built in Luçon , the interior of which was then used by Stade's teams. In this sports facility, which was renamed in 2005, Luçon VF is currently playing its home games.

The club's recent upward development is closely linked to the name Frédéric Reculeau, who has been with the club since 1987 - first as a player in all youth teams and then in the league team (in 2002 he was team captain of the eleven that were defeated in the cup against Paris Saint-Germain; see including ), since 2005 as a coach, who led the VF in the fourth division in 2008 and in the third division in 2013.

League affiliation and achievements

Luçon has never had a professional status and has therefore never belonged to the professional Division 1 or Division 2 (since 2002: Ligue 1 / Ligue 2 ). For the 2013/14 season, VF qualified for the third division for the first time in the club's history .

The club has so far reached the national main round in the competition for the Coupe de France three times. In 2002 (still as Stade Luçonnais, 0-2 in Niort against Paris Saint-Germain ) and 2013 (first division side Stade Brest only prevailed on penalties) he was eliminated in the thirty-second finals. In 2012, however, Luçon made it into the round of 32; In this, however, the later cup winner Olympique Lyon proved to be too strong - the amateurs wore this home game in front of around 15,000 spectators at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes .
