Giuseppe Biava (born May 8, 1977 in Seriate , Bergamo province ) is a former Italian football player .
Club career
Giuseppe Biava played for Atalanta Bergamo in his youth . At the age of 18 he moved to the then fourth division club Albinese Calcio . In 1998 his club merged with SC Leffe to form UC AlbinoLeffe and Biava played there for two more years. He was then loaned to AS Biellese for one season in 1902, before moving back to AlbinoLeffe in 2001 and playing there until the end of 2003. Due to his good performance, he was signed by US Palermo in January 2004 , which at the end of the season for the first time in 32 years mastered promotion to Serie A. With Palermo, the defender achieved a surprising 6th place in the first season of the first division and thus qualified for the UEFA Cup . The most successful goalscorer at the time was Luca Toni . Also in the following season, the Rosanero reached the qualification for the UEFA Cup, but favored by the football scandal in Italy. In June 2007, Biava extended his contract with Palermo until June 30, 2009. Despite the extension, he was signed by league rivals CFC Genoa a year later .
In February 2010 he was signed by the first division club Lazio Rome with a contract term until the end of the 2013/14 season.
