Marco Delvecchio [ ˈmarko delˈvɛkkjo ] (born April 7, 1973 in Milan ) is a former Italian football player . He played in the position of a striker.
Career
In the club
The center forward Marco Delvecchio came as a youth player in 1991 in the professional squad of Inter Milan . After stops at AC Venice and Udinese Calcio , AS Roma bought it in 1995 . The striker played for the capital city for almost ten years. 2000/01 Delvecchio won the first Italian championship since 1982/83 under Fabio Capello with Roma .
In January 2005 Marco Delvecchio moved to Brescia Calcio until the end of the season . For the 2005/06 season he went to Parma FC . After just one season at Parma Delvecchio joined Ascoli Calcio and rose with the club 2006/07 season in the Serie B from.
2008 Delvecchio went after one year without a club after Ostia to Pescatori Ostia in the Eccellenza Laziale . Since 2009 he has been playing for ASD Corneto Tarquinia from Tarquinia .
In the national team
Delvecchio played a total of 22 games for the Italian national soccer team and scored four goals. He played his most important games for Italy under national coach Dino Zoff at the 2000 European Football Championship . In the final against world champions France he scored the 1-0 lead for his team. This was also his first goal in the national dress. The lead for Italy lasted into stoppage time, but ultimately his team had to admit defeat 1: 2 in extra time. Delvecchio had not even missed a minute to become the national hero of Italy with the European title through his goal.
Giovanni Trapattoni nominated the Roman striker two years later to the Italian squad for the 2002 World Cup . Delvecchio was not used in this World Cup tournament.
