Lorenzo Minotti (born February 8, 1967 in Cesena , Italy ) is a former Italian football player .
During his playing days, Minotti played as a modern, header-strong libero .
Career
In the club
Lorenzo Minotti began his career at his hometown club, the AC Cesena , 1985 in Series B . In the summer of 1987 he moved to AC Parma , with whom he rose to Serie A for the first time in the club's history in 1989/90 . The defender made his debut in Italy's top division on September 9, 1990 in a 2-1 home defeat by Juventus Turin .
In the following years, Minotti won the Coppa Italia , the European Cup Winners' Cup , the European Supercup and the UEFA Cup as a regular player and team captain with AC Parma under coach Nevio Scala .
In the summer of 1996, Minotti moved to Cagliari Calcio at the age of 29 . From 1997 to 2000 he was under contract with Torino Calcio before ending his career with FBC Treviso in Serie B in 2000/01 .
In the national team
Lorenzo Minotti made his debut on February 16, 1994 in the 1-0 defeat against France under Arrigo Sacchi in the Italian national team . In the same year he was in Sacchi's squad for the World Cup in the USA , where he was not used, but advanced with the Azzurri to the final, in which Brazil had to be beaten 2: 3 on penalties .
The midfielder completed the last of his eight international matches for Italy on June 21, 1995 in the 2-0 defeat by Germany in Zurich .
After the active time
From 2002 to 2004 Lorenzo Minotti worked as a team manager at AC Parma. After a long break, he worked in the management of AC Cesena from November 2007 to June 2009 .
