Team manager

A team manager is a person who - mostly in sport - organizes and manages the activities of a team (or any team ). This can e.g. B. Press meetings, trips to away games or training camps. It can happen that the team manager combines several offices, functions and activities in his work. In addition, he often acts as a contact person for the athletes in the event of problems or conflicts within the team. The team manager is for example in team sports such as basketball , ice hockey and football .

According to a survey by the DFB together with the accadis Hochschule Bad Homburg in 2018, the areas of responsibility of a team manager in most teams in German professional football include travel and appointment management, reporting and association work as well as the management of subordinate or equal personnel. Accordingly, many team managers coordinate, for example, the kit supervisors, physiotherapists or team chefs and are responsible for organizing driving services, training camps and press meetings as well as for integrating new players into the team.

The position of team manager, as found in German-speaking countries, differs from the profile of a manager at British football clubs, who usually performs the functions of head coach and sports director as part of the sports management team .
