FC Bayern Munich

After that, Kreuzer switched from KSC to FC Bayern Munich, as did Mehmet Scholl and goalkeeper Oliver Kahn in those years . With Bayern, he finished tenth in the Bundesliga in his first season, which was the club's worst placement since 1978. He worked under the coaches Jupp Heynckes , Søren Lerby and Erich Ribbeck . After a runner-up, he won his first championship title with Bayern in 1994 , where trainer Ribbeck was replaced by Franz Beckenbauer during the winter break . In the following season Bayern were sixth under coach Giovanni Trapattoni . Under his successor Otto Rehhagel , who was replaced by and by club president Franz Beckenbauer towards the end of the season, another runner-up followed and he won the UEFA Cup in final games against Girondins Bordeaux , in which the future world footballer Zinedine Zidane participated. Under coach Giovanni Trapattoni, who returned to Munich, Kreuzer won his second German championship in 1996/97 .

On the 22nd matchday his Bundesliga career came to an end in the 45th minute with a 2-0 defeat at Arminia Bielefeld - after 282 games with 14 goals, 150 of which for Bayern with eight goals. Career as a team manager / sports director

Red Bull Salzburg: Champion 2007
Sturm Graz: Cup winner 2010

FC Basel

After the end of his playing career, Kreuzer stayed with FC Basel and from January 2002 acted as team manager together with club factotum Gusti Nussbaumer . In the course of time there was friction between Kreuzer, coach Christian Gross and Gigi Oeri , the club's board member and blond eminence . Kreuzer's contract, which expired in 2005, was not extended. During his time as team manager, he won the 2003 Cup and the 2004 and 2005 championships .

RB Salzburg

On October 1, 2006, he took up the post as sports director at FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he met three former companions from his time at Bayern: Giovanni Trapattoni and Lothar Matthäus acted as coaching team, while ex-national player Alexander Zickler stormed and footballer of the year was. After winning the Austrian championship in 2007 , Kreuzer was given leave of absence in September of that year.

Storm Graz

From August 2008 to May 2011, Kreuzer was the sports director of the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz . With coach Franco Foda , the team won the 2010 cup with a 1-0 final win over SC Wiener Neustadt and in 2011 they were three points ahead of Red Bull Salzburg as Austrian champions.

Karlsruher SC

On May 27, 2011, Kreuzer signed a three-year contract as sporting director at Karlsruher SC , who had just finished the season in the 2nd Bundesliga season as 15th, just above the relegation ranks. In Kreuzer's first season, KSC changed coach twice - from Rainer Scharinger to Jørn Andersen , the first foreign top scorer in the Bundesliga in 1990, to Markus Kauczinski - did not get past 16th place and had to play in relegation games against SSV Jahn Regensburg . After results of 1: 1 and 2: 2, the KSC had to relegate to the 3rd division due to the away goal rule. In the following season, under the retained coach Kauczinski, the immediate resurgence as a third division champion succeeded.

Hamburger SV

In June 2013 he reached an agreement with Hamburger SV , which finished seventh in the 2012/13 Bundesliga season, to succeed the Danish Frank Arnesen as the director of sport for the next three years . “From a purely sporting point of view, HSV is my most important station as a manager. It was clear to me from the start that I wanted to seize this opportunity and use it, ”he said.

The 2013/14 season was unsatisfactory for HSV. After a coach change from Thorsten Fink to Bert van Marwijk , who had become vice world champion with the Netherlands in 2010, to Mirko Slomka , the club was 16th and had to play in relegation games against second division third SpVgg Greuther Fürth . After results of 0: 0 and 1: 1, the class was held due to the away goal rule.

On July 14, 2014, HSV released him from his duties. On October 10, 2014, Hamburger SV converted the separation into a dismissal without notice. The club accused him of having "repeatedly violated his duties of loyalty" after the separation in newspaper and TV interviews. This allegation was later withdrawn after an out-of-court settlement and Kreuzer received 800,000 euros in severance payment. The 2014–15 season was very similar to the previous year for Hamburger SV under Kreuzer's successor Peter Knäbel , who held the title of “Director of Professional Football”.

1860 Munich

From November 5, 2015, Kreuzer became the successor to Necat Aygün - who acted as an interim solution after the resignation of the controversial Gerhard Poschner - sports director at the relegation-threatened second division TSV 1860 Munich . Transfers initiated by Kreuzer during the winter break were seen as a decisive factor in staying in the league. On June 22, 2016 the amicable separation of Kreuzer and TSV 1860 Munich was announced. After a restructuring of the club's management, the club wanted to make room for Thomas Eichin, who had just escaped relegation from the first division club SV Werder Bremen .

Karlsruher SC

Kreuzer returned to Karlsruher SC on December 1, 2016 as the successor to the released sports director Jens Todt . In his first half of the year he was relegated directly to the club, having arrived in the third division, KSC failed in 2017/18 in the relegation to Erzgebirge Aue. A year later the time had finally come when KSC made it to the second Bundesliga in 2019.

Others

Oliver Kreuzer has two sons from his first marriage. Niklas (* 1993) was promoted from the third division to the second division with Dynamo Dresden in 2016 and was also appointed to German youth national teams. Tim Kreuzer (born March 1, 1997) was at the same time, after he had previously played in the youth team of FC Basel, in the fifth-class Oberliga Hamburg at SC Victoria Hamburg defender.
