Jochen Kientz (born September 17, 1972 in Mannheim ) is a former German soccer player . Today he is a football official and player agent. Since December 22, 2017 he has been the sporting director of the German third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim .

Career

Career as a player

The defender Jochen Kientz started his career at SpVgg 06 Ketsch . He then played at VfR Mannheim , SV Waldhof Mannheim and SV 98 Schwetzingen . In January 1991 he signed his first professional contract with Eintracht Frankfurt ( Bundesliga ).

In 1994 Jochen Kientz moved to TSV 1860 Munich in the 2nd Bundesliga and rose with this club. In 1995 he went to Spain to the RCD Mallorca . The following year he played for the Spanish club CD Logroñés . From 1997 to 1999 Kientz was again active in the 1st Bundesliga for 1860 Munich. In the first year he played 30 games and played in the European Cup. In the second year he shot his first Bundesliga goal. In the year 2000 Jochen Kientz went to Greece to Panionios Athens from February to June .

He then signed a contract with Hamburger SV (Bundesliga). He played in the Champions League with HSV . During the game against Juventus Turin , Kientz was tasked with guarding FIFA World Player of the Year Zinédine Zidane . In the 28th minute, Zidane gave the HSV player a head but was sent off. HSV won the game in Turin 3-1.

In 2001 Kientz moved to FC St. Pauli (Bundesliga). He played 20 games for the club and was part of the team that defeated FC Bayern Munich , who had recently won the World Cup , 2-1 on February 6, 2002 . The team is honored to this day in St. Pauli as the “world cup winner”. Nevertheless, FC St. Pauli was relegated this season.

In the following two years Kientz played for Hansa Rostock (Bundesliga). In 14 years as a professional footballer, he was operated on 13 times; He finally retired in 2004 with a persistent ankle injury and has been a sports disabled person ever since .

After the playing career

After his active career, Kientz completed an apprenticeship as a football coach (A license). Until 2008 he was in charge of the Penya Esportiva Sant Jordi (Ibiza) club as team coordinator. After working as a scout for Real Mallorca, he founded his own agency as a player agent.

In the meantime, Kientz was active as a model for Amaze Models , an agency of the former soccer player Patrick Glöckner . He performed under the name Joe Ibiza .

On December 22nd, 2017 he became the new sporting director of his youth club SV Waldhof Mannheim , which was then playing in the Regionalliga Südwest and which was promoted to the 3rd division at the end of the 2018/19 season .
