Office Herbede

The Herbede office was founded in 1886 in the Hattingen district . In this administrative unit several villages were combined, which were closely connected due to their historical growth. These included eastern and Westherbede (= Herbede ), through wood , Vormholz as well as across the Ruhr side location Heven .

Territorial reforms

As early as 1921, Heven resigned from office and joined the city of Witten . On April 1, 1926, the office became the Herbede municipality. As part of the community reform in 1929 , the rural village of Bommerholz was assigned to the large community. The district of Hattingen was dissolved and the community became part of the newly established Ennepe-Ruhr district . The term Großgemeinde was used exclusively in official use, in colloquial language one spoke exclusively of Herbede on site. In July 1951, Herbede was granted city rights as part of its 1100-year celebration. In 1951, the city of Herbede included the city districts of Mitte, Durchholz, Vormholz and Bommerholz.

In 1975 the city of Herbede was incorporated into the city of Witten .
