Patrick Glöckner (born November 18, 1976 in Bonn ) is a German soccer coach and former player. Since July 2020 he has been a coach at SV Waldhof Mannheim .
Career
Patrick Glöckner came to Eintracht Frankfurt from the youth of FSV Bischofsheim . About the second team he made the leap into the professional team and he was able to make his professional debut on September 22, 1996 at home against his future club, the Stuttgarter Kickers . After a year at the traditional Swabian club, the midfielder returned to Hesse and was still on the ball for Kickers Offenbach and FSV Frankfurt . Since he could not reconcile his job as a model with football, Glöckner ended his career prematurely.
Later Glöckner worked in various coaching positions in the youth and with the U23 teams of his two former Frankfurt clubs. From July to December 2017, Glöckner was assistant coach at FC St. Pauli . From January 2018 Glöckner worked as an assistant coach at FC Viktoria Köln , where he followed Olaf Janßen , with whom he had already worked at St. Pauli. After Olaf Janßen's move as assistant coach from Bruno Labbadia to VfL Wolfsburg, Patrick Glöckner was promoted to Viktoria Köln's new head coach. In May 2019, Glöckner was given a leave of absence in first place before the last match day, as the sporting management saw the season's goal of promotion at risk due to the negative trend.
On the 10th matchday of the third division 2019/20 season , Glöckner took over the position of head coach from David Bergner at the newly promoted Chemnitzer FC . As seventeenth in the table, the club went straight back to the regional league and Glöckner left Chemnitz shortly after the end of the season.
For the 2020/21 season , Glöckner took over the coaching position at SV Waldhof Mannheim as the successor to Bernhard Trares .
