Marcel Hofrath (born March 21, 1993 in Düsseldorf ) is a German football player . The full-back has been playing for SV Waldhof Mannheim since August 2018 .

Career

Hofrath began playing football at TV Grafenberg and moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf at the age of nine . Until 2012 he was employed in the youth departments. From the 2012/13 season he played in the second team of Fortuna. However, he was only used irregularly in the Regionalliga West . In January 2014 Hofrath moved to the relegation-threatened third division Chemnitzer FC , where he immediately became a regular in the position of left-back. In the following season he lost his regular seat and then dissolved his contract in January 2015. He moved to league competitor SSV Jahn Regensburg . He made his point debut for Regensburg on January 31, 2015: He was in the starting line-up for the game against Borussia Dortmund II and scored the goal to make it 3-0. In August 2018 it became known that Hofrath was moving to SV Waldhof Mannheim in the Regionalliga Südwest . In 2019 Hofrath celebrated promotion to the 3rd league with the Waldhöfern and thus returned to professional football. On July 10, 2020, Hofrath extended his contract with SV Waldhof Mannheim for another year until June 2021.
