Emiliano Lasa

Emiliano Lasa , full name Emiliano Lasa Sanchez , (born January 25, 1990 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan athlete .

Career

The 1.80 meter tall Emiliano Lasa starts in the long jump and triple jump as well as on the sprint courses. His fastest time on the 100 meter course was 11.03 seconds on March 7, 2009 in Montevideo . He was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 2010 South American Games in Medellín . He also took part with the Uruguayan team in the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara . On October 24, 2011, he set an Uruguayan record in the long jump for the first time with a width of 7.81 meters. In November 2011 he was Uruguayan runner-up on the 100-meter course. On April 6, 2013, he improved the national record in the long jump to 7.88 meters. At the 2014 South American Games in Santiago de Chile , he won the long jump competition won by Panamanian Irving Saladino with a national record of 7.94 meters on March 14, 2014. In doing so, he surpassed his previous personal best of 7.90 meters , which was only set up on February 22, 2014 in São Paulo, Brazil . His personal best in the triple jump is 15.08 meters and comes from an event on November 7, 2010 in Mar del Plata . He has been trained by the Brazilian Nélio Moura since at least 2014 (as of August 1, 2015). In August 2014, he narrowly missed the medal ranks at the 2014 Ibero-American Championships in the long jump and finished in 4th place.

At the 2015 South American Athletics Championships in Lima, he won gold with a jump of 8.06 meters. In the same year he improved his personal best in the long jump to 8.09 meters. At the long jump meeting in Bad Langensalza in July 2015, he finished fourth with 7.91 meters. He then took part in the 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto and won the bronze medal in the long jump competition there with a width of 8.17 meters. At the long jump competition of the 2016 Olympic Games , he finished 6th with a jump of 8.10 meters. In doing so, he secured the Olympic diploma and was also the first Uruguayan athlete after Ricardo Vera at the 1992 Olympic Games to reach an Olympic athletics final.
