Jan-Christoph Bartels (born January 13, 1999 in Wiesbaden ) is a German soccer goalkeeper who plays for third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim . He is also a multiple German junior national player.

Career

society

The Wiesbaden Bartels was trained in football at 1. FSV Mainz 05 in its youth performance center and was used for the club in the B and A junior Bundesliga .

In the summer of 2017 he was signed by 1. FC Köln , where he spent his last A youth year. For the 2018/19 regional league season , the goalkeeper was firmly integrated into the squad of the second team and played 17 games in alternation with the American Brady Scott. In the end he was thirteenth in the table with the team. On the 19th match day of the second division season Bartels was in the match day squad of the professional team, but was not used, and rose at the end of the season with Cologne as a second division champion in the Bundesliga .

In the summer of 2019, Effzeh loaned him to his hometown to second division SV Wehen Wiesbaden for the 2019/20 season . Due to an injury to Bartels' preparation, his team-mate Lukas Watkowiak made the race for the regular place in goal after the change of the previous first keeper Markus Kolke . After he had already conceded 23 goals in the first seven match days, Bartels got the chance in the starting line-up from head coach Rüdiger Rehm in the home game against fellow promoted Osnabrück . When he first attacked his goal, Bartels injured his thigh while clearing a high ball and had to be replaced. Even after his recovery, the Wiesbadener was no longer in the matchday squad due to the postponement of keeper Heinz Lindner .

In July 2020 Bartels moved directly to third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim without returning to Cologne .

National team

Bartels completed international matches for all youth teams of the DFB from the U15 . At the U17 European Championship in 2016 , he completed the full season and reached the semi-finals with the team. Between October 2018 and March 2019, Bartels played two games for Germany's U20s .
