Lukas Watkowiak (born March 6, 1996 ) is a German soccer goalkeeper who is under contract with FC St. Gallen in Switzerland .

Career

In his youth he played for FSV Frankfurt and 1. FSV Mainz 05 . For the 2015/16 season he rose from the A-youth to the Mainz team's second team. After being the third goalkeeper behind Jannik Huth and Daniel Zeaiter in his first season , he made his debut for 1. FSV Mainz 05 II in the 3rd league on July 30, 2016 and thus his professional debut. In the 2-2 game against FSV Zwickau , he completed the entire 90 minutes.

For the 2017/18 season Watkowiak moved to third division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden , for whom he made his league debut in the Hessian jersey as a replacement for the injured goalkeeper Markus Kolke in the 2-0 win against VfR Aalen on the last match day. With the team, he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the 2018/19 season and went there as a regular goalkeeper in the 2019/20 season . From the 9th day of the game he was replaced as number 1 by Heinz Lindner, who was subsequently signed up . His contract was valid until 2021, but was terminated at the end of August 2020, partly due to the commitment of Tim Boss , a potential competitor.

The goalkeeper then went abroad for the first time and received a two-year contract with the Swiss super league team and runner-up FC St. Gallen .
