Thomas Hoßmang (born November 27, 1966 in Hoyerswerda ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach, who was active in the Bundesliga for Dynamo Dresden . He is currently the head coach of 1. FC Magdeburg .

Career

The Hoyerswerdaer Hoßmang began his career in 1984 in the GDR league with activist Black Pump . For the company sports community, he completed 132 competitive games. At BSG Energie Cottbus , under coach Fritz Bohla , he became a regular player once in the 1985/86 season - as did Detlef Irrgang and Jens Melzig ; the team rose to the league with the three youngsters (one mission). In the first league season, Hoßmang switched back to activist Black Pump. In 1990, Hoßmang briefly switched to Chemie Döbern , then worked in Kuala Terengganu and at Rot-Weiss Frankfurt . In the 1994/95 season he played 18 times in the Bundesliga for 1. FC Dynamo Dresden before the Dresden team was revoked and the team was transferred to the regional league. For the 1996/97 season he moved back to Energie Cottbus. As a libero, he was part of the team that advanced to the cup final under coach Eduard Geyer as a regional league and only the second amateur team . The team also achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga this season ; in two seasons he played 57 second division games for the Lausitzer and scored four goals. For the 1999 season he moved to the regional league club Dresdner SC , with whom he made the leap into the new regional league in 2000 as runner-up. After the traditional club's decline in 2003, Hoßmang ended his active career.

As a coach, Hoßmang initially led the A-youth of FC Energie into the Bundesliga. He later became the assistant coach of Petrik Sander in the Lusatian Bundesliga team. When Sander had to vacate his coaching chair in September 2007, Hoßmang was supposed to take over the post on an interim basis, but asked for his release.

In January 2008 Hoßmang made his comeback as head of defense at his home club FC Lausitz Hoyerswerda . From March 16, 2009 he was coach of the league club Budissa Bautzen, before that he coached the A-youth of FC Oberlausitz in Neugersdorf . On April 21, 2011, Budissa Bautzen announced that the contract with Hoßmang would not be extended. The background to this was Hoßmang's public criticism of the club's management, which had not previously extended his expiring contract.

On April 29, 2011, he signed a two-year contract with VFC Plauen and replaced the previous coach Ronald Färber . On June 30, 2012 the contract was terminated. The reason was different views on both sides regarding the planning of the next season in the newly staggered regional league.

On June 11, 2012, Hoßmang was introduced as assistant coach by Petrik Sander at FC Carl Zeiss Jena . On August 24, 2013, he and Sander were released from FC Carl Zeiss Jena.

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Hoßmang took over the U19 team of 1. FC Magdeburg . From January 1, 2015, he was also head of the youth training center .

On June 10, 2020, Hoßmang was appointed head coach of the third division team of 1. FC Magdeburg until the end of the 2019/20 season . He took over the duties of Claus-Dieter Wollitz , who had previously been released, when he was fourth in the table. After relegation, Hoßmang's head coach contract was extended until June 2022.

family

Hoßmang has been married to the same woman for the second time since 2017. His son Martin was the captain of the regional league football team of FSV Budissa Bautzen . His other son Benjamin observes players in the youth leagues for his father.
