Claes Tholin

Claes Emil Tholin (born October 22, 1860 in Södra Säm , Älvsborgs län ; † 1927 ) was a Swedish politician and from 1896 to 1907 the first chairman of the Swedish Social Democrats .

Tholin learned the trade of tailor at the age of 10. From 1880 he lived in Copenhagen, where he first came into contact with union and socialist ideas. There he became a member of the tailors' union and the socialist youth club Karl Marx Club . He returned to Sweden in 1890 and helped build the Swedish Social Democrats.
