Morten Jens Behrens (born April 1, 1997 in Bad Segeberg ) is a German football goalkeeper who is under contract with 1. FC Magdeburg .
Career
Behrens was born in Bad Segeberg and grew up in Westerrade . There he started playing football at the local SV Westerrade at the age of 6 , before joining the youth team at VfB Lübeck in 2009. After Behrens had completed secondary school in 2013 , he switched to the Hamburger SV youth training center . In the 2013/14 season , he played 21 games in the B-Junior Bundesliga . After he had been a substitute goalkeeper behind Johannes Kreidl in the 2014/15 season and made 9 appearances in the A-Juniors Bundesliga , he was again the regular goalkeeper with 19 appearances in the 2015/16 season . Towards the end of the season he also made his first appearances in the second men's team in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord . For the 2016/17 season, Behrens became a permanent member of the second team's squad. In his first full season in the men's field, he was used in a rotation with the third goalkeeper of the professionals, Tom Mickel , in 12 games. In the 2017/18 season , Behrens was the sole goalkeeper and came under coach Christian Titz , who took over the professional team in March 2018, on 27 missions and became runner-up with his team after winning the autumn championship after the Hinserie .
After the professional team was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga , Behrens signed his first professional contract for the 2018/19 season with a term until June 30, 2020 and moved up to the professional squad as the third goalkeeper behind Julian Pollersbeck and Tom Mickel . At the same time he was still in the squad of the second team. Behrens came to 21 regional league appearances. In addition, he was in 3 second division games in the matchday squad when Pollersbeck was missing and Mickel was in the starting line-up.
For the 2019/20 season, Behrens moved to the third division club 1. FC Magdeburg . He received a contract with the relegated team until June 30, 2021. After Behrens had replaced Alexander Brunst on the first four match days , he made his debut in the first main round of the DFB Cup in the 0-1 defeat Extension against the first division club SC Freiburg for 1. FC Magdeburg. After three more league games on the bench, Behrens made his debut on the 8th matchday in a 1-1 draw against MSV Duisburg in the 3rd division, as Brunst had to undergo an appendectomy . After Brunst's return, Behrens was declared the new regular goalkeeper by head coach Stefan Krämer and remained so under Krämer's successors Claus-Dieter Wollitz and Thomas Hoßmang . Overall, Behrens came in this season, in which the Magdeburg just reached relegation, to 29 third division appearances.
