Autumn master

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Herbstmeister or winter champions is in the sport called a person or team that a competition after completing the first half of the season ( first round ) stands on the place in the standings, which would make them at the end of a master. As a rule, this is the table leader in the top division. However, the prerequisite is that the season extends from the summer of one year to the summer of the following year.

In the event that the first game days of the second half of the season are played before the winter break or the last game days of the first half of the season only after the winter break, the term winter champion or winter king is also used to select the participant who is on the championship pitch during the winter break .

Germany

In the German Bundesliga , around two out of three autumn champions also become champions of the respective season. The clubs Eintracht Frankfurt, Schalke 04 and Bayer Leverkusen, which have never become Bundesliga champions despite two autumn championships each, are special exceptions.

All autumn and winter champions are listed below. If no second round matches were played before the winter break, no winter champion is given. Two clubs, Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1974/75 season and Werder Bremen in the 1987/88 season only became autumn champions after the winter break. The autumn champions of the 2016/17 season , FC Bayern Munich , were also only determined after the winter break.
