Stuttgarter Kickers II (formerly Amateure ), the second team of the Sportverein Stuttgarter Kickers e. V. , was a soccer team from Stuttgart until the 2016/17 season that had played in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg since the 2000/01 season . It was a U-23 team and served the young talents as an intermediate station between the youth and the professional area.
history
The amateur team of the Stuttgarter Kickers was founded in the 1950s and initially assigned to the lowest division. At the same time as the amateurs, there was also a reserve team of contract players that took part in games out of competition, but was dissolved a few years later.
After the Kickers amateurs initially commuted between A and B class, they rose to the 2nd amateur league in 1965. Four years later she made the leap to the 1st Amateur League North Württemberg . The then third-highest German league you belonged to until relegation in 1973. After a league reform, the Kickers were assigned to the Württemberg League in 1978 . The first promotion to the Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg followed in 1991. After being bottom of the table after the first league season, the Kickers-Amateurs managed to get promoted again in 2000. The Kickers amateurs defeated the Waldhof Mannheim amateurs 4-2 in extra time in the second leg for relegation . From this season on, the second representation of the Kickers played continuously in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.
The club did not register a U-23 team for the 2017/18 season. This meant the end for the amateur team of the Stuttgarter Kickers.

The home ground of the second team was the Waldau district sports facility , where the U23 team usually played in front of only about 100 spectators. When playing against clubs with a large number of visitors, the home games of the U23s were played in the Gazi Stadium on the Waldau , the home ground of the first team. In addition, the new artificial turf pitch in the ADM sports park was used regularly as a playground in the winter months.
