Jürgen Hartmann (born October 27, 1962 in Seelbach ) is a former German soccer player and current coach . He was a midfielder and played 363 Bundesliga games for Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart . He has been under contract with the Stuttgarter Kickers since 2012 .
Career
Hartmann began his professional career in 1985 at VfB Stuttgart , with whom he reached the DFB Cup final in 1986 and the UEFA Cup final in 1989 . Both finals were lost. By 1991 Hartmann played 174 Bundesliga games for VfB, scoring ten goals.
From 1991 to 1997 he played for Hamburger SV . He played 189 Bundesliga games in which he scored seven goals. From 1995 to 1997 he wore the team's armband. The greatest success in Hartmann's time at HSV was a 5th place and the UEFA Cup qualification achieved in the 1995/96 season .
The 1997/98 season he played in Switzerland for FC Basel and ended his career at the end of that season.
Trainer
His first coaching station in professional football was Alemannia Aachen from June to November 2007 . There he was assistant coach to Guido Buchwald . Both were sacked after the Bundesliga relegated team only finished midfield after 14 match days.
Before that, Jürgen Hartmann coached Offenburger FV and only just missed promotion to the league in the 2006/2007 season ( relegation game against TSG Weinheim : first leg 0-0 - second leg 0-1 through an own goal by OFV).
From July 2009 to April 2010 Jürgen Hartmann was the coach of the regional division SG Sonnenhof Großaspach . Since August 13, 2012 he has been the trainer of the U23 of the Stuttgarter Kickers . and since the beginning of 2013 also assistant coach of the first team. In September 2013, after separating from Massimo Morales , he took over the training of the Stuttgart third division team for three weeks .
