Amedeo Carboni (* 6. April 1965 in Arezzo ) is a former Italian footballer and former sporting director at FC Valencia . Carboni celebrated his greatest successes with AS Roma and with his last club, Valencia CF.
Career
society
Carboni began his football career in 1982 with the Italian second division club AC Arezzo . He moved to Fiorentina in 1983 , but did not appear there and returned to his home club, AC Arezzo. In his first season 1984/85 he played 22 games and also scored one goal. In the next season he played ten Serie A games for AS Bari . After he was briefly drawn back to his home country, he finally moved to FC Empoli in 1987 and played ten games in Serie A. In the following season 1987/88 he moved to AC Parma , where he scored a goal in 28 games Serie B scored. Sampdoria Genoa signed him the next season and stayed there for two years. Within two seasons he made 60 appearances in the Italian premier league and scored two goals.
In 1990, Carboni was signed by AS Roma . There he became a regular player in his first season and played 33 games. Carboni made his first international appearances in his second season in Rome, playing with his team in three UEFA Cup games .
After seven successful seasons with AS Roma, Carboni finally changed his club for the last time and went to Spain for Valencia CF. There he plays a total of nine seasons and has had some successes. Among the biggest are the Spanish championship title and the UEFA Cup victory with Valencia CF.
On May 16, 2006, Carboni completed a championship game against CA Osasuna at the age of 41 years, one month and ten days as the oldest player ever to stand in the Spanish Primera División on the field . He played the entire game, surpassing the previous record set by Donato Gama da Silva , who ended his career in 2003. With the victory in the UEFA Super Cup , Carboni is also the oldest player to ever win a European club competition.
National team
Carboni completed a total of 18 games for the Italian national team. Among other things, he took part with Italy at the European Championship in 1996 (2 missions).
Manager
With the end of the 2005/06 season ended Carboni his career as a professional footballer and was the Spanish club FC Valencia sports director .
In June 2007 he was released because of internal disputes in Valencia.
