Antonio Benarrivo (born August 21, 1968 in Brindisi , Apulia region , Italy ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

The defender Benarrivo came from his home club Football Brindisi in 1912 via Calcio Padova to AC Parma in 1991 . Under coach Nevio Scala he advanced to one of the best defenders in Serie A in the early 1990s and made the leap into the Italian national team . With Parma he won the Coppa Italia under Nevio Scala in the 1991/92 season and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992/93 . With Italy, he was under Arrigo Sacchi at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States vice-champion. He played a total of 257 Serie A games for Parma until 2004 and made 23 international matches for Italy.
