Urby Emanuelson (born June 16, 1986 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player of Surinamese origin.
Career
society
Urby Emanuelson's father Errol was already a footballer. He played in the Suriname capital Paramaribo for SV Robinhood and in the national team . After moving to the Netherlands, son Urby was born, who emulated his father at SC Voorland as a child. So he soon came to AFC Ajax , in whose soccer school he went through the entire youth team. He made his debut in the first team on February 24, 2005 as an 18-year-old when he came on as a substitute in the UEFA Cup second leg against AJ Auxerre , which Ajax lost 3-1 and was eliminated. On April 10, 2005 Emanuelson played in a 4-2 home win over Alkmaar for the first time in the Eredivisie . At the beginning of his second professional season he was able to celebrate his first national title by winning the Johan Cruyff Schaal . In 2006 and 2007, the double followed with two more Supercups and the KNVB Cup . In the league it was enough in 2007 and 2008 only to runner-up titles. In 2009, Ajax disappointed and finished the season in third place. The following year he won the KNVB Cup again with the Amsterdam team. In total, he appeared for AFC Ajax in 256 competitive games, in which he scored 22 goals.
In January 2011, Emanuelson moved to AC Milan , where he signed a contract until the end of the 2013/14 season.
On January 31, 2013 Emanuelson was loaned to Fulham FC until the end of the season.
On July 2, 2014 Urby Emanuelson moved from AC Milan to AS Roma in the Italian capital . In January 2015, Emanuelson left the Roma again and joined Atalanta Bergamo . There, too, his employment was not permanent: After the end of the 2014/15 season, his contract was not extended. After six months of being without a club, Hellas Verona signed the Dutchman at the beginning of January 2016 and provided him with a contract that was limited to the end of the 2015/16 season.
National team
With the Dutch U21 national team , Emanuelson won the U21 European Championship in 2006 . In the same tournament he was voted one of the top eleven players because of his good performance. On August 16, 2006, he made his debut for the senior team in a friendly against Ireland . By February 2008, he had competed eleven times in the Oranje jersey. For the squad of the European Championship 2008 he was not considered, but later took part with the Olympic team in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In the squad for the 2010 World Cup , he was not called up again, but came in the first match after the World Cup in a 1-1 draw against Ukraine for a further use in the senior team, as the players used at the World Cup in South Africa paused.
