Gyrano Kerk (born December 2, 1995 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch football player of Surinamese descent. The winger is under contract with honorary division club FC Utrecht .

Career

Gyrano Kerk was born in the Dutch capital Amsterdam and is of Surinamese origin. He started playing soccer at HFC Haarlem and came to the youth academy of FC Utrecht via AFC DWS and AVV Zeeburgia in summer 2012 . On January 22, 2014, the winger made his debut in the first team when he came on for Adam Sarota in the 81st minute of the 0-1 cup defeat by NEC Nijmegen . On October 4, 2014 (8th matchday) he scored his first goal in the 3-2 home defeat against the Go Ahead Eagles in his second league appearance. In this 2014/15 season he became one of the best players on the reserve team, scoring nine goals in 21 league games. For the first team, he completed four league games in which he was able to score a goal.

For the 2015/16 season, Kerk moved on loan to the second division Helmond Sport , where he was supposed to collect match practice in professional operations. On August 7, 2015 (1st matchday), he made his debut in the second-highest Dutch division in a 1-0 home win against MVV Maastricht . Kerk quickly established himself as a regular player and scored his first goal in the Kattenmeppers jersey on October 16 (matchday 10) in a 4-1 away win against FC Eindhoven . He finished the season with seven goals and nine assists in 34 league games and returned to Utrecht.

There he began the season in the Reserve Jong FC Utrecht, which had been promoted to the second-class Eerste Divisie in the previous season. He managed to preserve his strong form from his time at Helmond Sport and was therefore often in the first team's matchday squad in the first half of the 2016/17 season , but was hardly considered. This changed completely in the second half of the season and he pushed into the starting line-up of head coach Erik ten Hag . On February 18, 2017 (23rd match day) he scored his first goal of the season in the Eredivisie in a 3-1 home win against PEC Zwolle . He finished the season with four goals and five assists in 18 first-team league games, while he scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for the reserve.

In the following season 2017/18 he kept his regular place and scored six goals in 34 league games and prepared seven more goals. On April 24, 2019 (32nd matchday) he scored his first brace in the top Dutch league in a 2-1 home win against Fortuna Sittard . He was able to improve his rate of goal participation in this 2018/19 season , because he contributed eight goals and nine assists in 33 league games. He succeeded in doing this again in the 2019/20 season, when he had an excellent ten goals and eight assists until the early end of the season after 24 league appearances.
