Maarten Paes (born May 14, 1998 in Nijmegen ) is a Dutch football goalkeeper . He is under contract with FC Utrecht and is a young Dutch national player.

Career

society

Paes started playing football in Malden at VV Union and in 2012 switched to the jointly operated youth academy of the NEC Nijmegen and FC Oss ("Voetbalacademie NEC / FC Oss"). His father Vincent was chairman of the NEC. In the 2017/18 season, Paes played for the NEC reserve team for the first time.

In the summer of 2018 he moved to FC Utrecht and signed a three-year contract. On August 19, 2018, Paes played for the first time in the Eredivisie in the 2-0 game of the 2018/19 season against PEC Zwolle , as two goalkeepers of the first team were injured. He is used in the second team of FC Utrecht in the Eerste Divisie .

National team

Paes took part with the Dutch U-19 national team in the European Championships in Germany in 2016 and in Georgia in 2017 , but was not used in either tournament. He played two games each for the U-19s and the U-20s .

He was nominated for the first time for the Dutch U-21 national team for a test match against Germany on November 16, 2018 , but was not used.
