Abass Issah (born September 26, 1998 in Asokwa , Ashanti Region ) is a Ghanaian football player . The striker is under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 and was a young national player.

His first name Abass is always shown on his player jerseys , from which his club Mainz 05 even led him as Issah Abass until summer 2020 .

Career

Abass played for Asokwa Deportivo in Ghana until the end of 2016 . In January 2017 he moved to NK Olimpija Ljubljana and was Slovenian champions and cup winners with the team in the 2017/18 season . He made 41 league games (eleven goals) for the Slovenian first division club. His contract ran until 2020.

At the end of August 2018, Abass was signed by the German Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 for five years . Under head coach Sandro Schwarz , Abass only came on for one substitution in the 2018/19 season . In the account of the COVID-19 pandemic aborted after 25 matchdays season 2019/20 he played on loan 15 league games (two goals) for the Dutch first division side FC Utrecht . He then returned to Mainz 05 to prepare for the 2020/21 season.
