Florian Müller (born November 13, 1997 in Saarlouis ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He is under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 and is a German junior national player.

Career

Müller had started playing soccer at FV Lebach before joining 1. FC Saarbrücken . There he played until his move to the youth performance center of the 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 2013. In Mainz, the goalkeeper went through the B and A youth and received a professional contract for the second team on July 1, 2016 , which was in the 3 League played. In this league, Müller made his competitive debut in the 2015/16 season when he replaced the regular goalkeeper Jannik Huth in the 5-1 defeat at Chemnitzer FC on April 2, 2016 .

For the 2016/17 season, Müller was a permanent member of the Mainz Bundesliga squad. He made his debut in the top German division on March 3, 2018 in the game against Hamburger SV , in which he represented goalkeepers René Adler and Robin Zentner , who were absent due to illness, and saved a penalty. For his performance he was named "Player of the Day" by the kicker sports magazine throughout the Bundesliga. In mid-November 2017, the contract was extended until 2022. From March 2018, Müller, who took turns with Hundreds after Adler's career ended, became the new regular goalkeeper until he was replaced by Hundreds in mid-September 2019. After Zentner's cruciate ligament tear in March 2020, he is again the goalkeeper for the remainder of the 2019/20 season .

National team

In October 2015 Müller was appointed to a junior national team for the first time by the coach of the German U19 national team , Marcus Sorg . He made his debut on October 9, 2015 in a 1-0 win in the friendly against the Mexican U18 national team , when he came on for Timo Königsmann in the 46th minute . This was followed by further appearances in friendly matches against the Serbian U19 team (November 15, 2015; 1-0 win) and against the South Korean U19 national team (29 March 2016; 1-0 win). At the U19 European Championship in 2016 , which took place in Germany, he was used in two games. On October 5, 2016, he made his debut in the German U20 selection against the USA .

In March 2018 Müller was appointed to the German U21 national team for the first time by coach Stefan Kuntz . He made his debut a year later, on March 21, 2019, in a friendly against France.
