Danny Latza (born December 7, 1989 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German soccer player . He is under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 . His preferred position is the defensive midfield.
Career
societies
Latza began playing soccer at the DJK Arminia Ückendorf . In 1998 he moved to the youth team at FC Schalke 04 . There he went through several youth teams and played a few games for the second team before he was promoted to the professional squad in January 2009. In February 2009 he finally made his debut in the Bundesliga , but continued to play mainly for the second team. He made a total of three games for the Schalke 04 professionals.
In the summer of 2011 he signed a two-year contract with SV Darmstadt 98 , for which he played 73 league games in two seasons. For the 2013/14 season , Latza was committed by MSV Duisburg , but the license was withdrawn; this invalidated his contract. Latza then moved to VfL Bochum for two years . In two seasons he made 64 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga.
For the 2015/16 season he joined 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In the 3-1 win against Hamburger SV on December 17, 2016, the 15th matchday of the 2016/17 season, he scored his first three Bundesliga goals. For the 2019/20 Bundesliga season , Latza was appointed the new team captain by head coach Sandro Schwarz .
His contract with Mainz 05 runs until June 30, 2021.
National team
Latza was part of the German squad at the U-17 European Championship in 2006 , where he reached the semi-finals with the German team. In 2008 he took part in the European Championship in the Czech Republic with the German U-19 national team and won the title there by beating Italy 3-1 in the final .
