Career
Phillipp Mwene grew up in his native Vienna and played in his youth at FK Austria Wien . In 2010 he moved from Austria to the youth performance center of the traditional German club VfB Stuttgart . After he had already been used in the U-17 and U-19 teams, he gave up on April 20, 2013 as an A-youth for the second team of VfB on the 34th match day of the 2012/13 season in the 3. Soccer league against Wacker Burghausen made his professional debut. On June 26, 2013, Mwene signed a licensed player contract dated until June 2016 with VfB Stuttgart. In the following seasons he was still used in the second team and managed to assert himself as a regular player in the position of full- back in the 2015/16 season . At the end of the season, in which Mwene was either a right or left-back, it was clear that VfB II would be relegated to the Regionalliga Südwest , which is why he left the club.
For the 2016/17 season , Phillipp Mwene moved to the second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern on a free transfer , with whom he signed a three-year contract. He played all 35 competitive games over the full playing time during the season. He scored his first second division goal on February 21, 2018 in the catch-up game against SV Darmstadt 98 , when he scored 2-0 in the 61st minute of the game. On the last day of the season he scored two goals in a 3-1 away win against FC Ingolstadt and put on the third goal.
After the relegation of FCK, Mwene joined 1. FSV Mainz 05 for three years on a free transfer in May 2018 .
