Robin Kwamina Quaison (born October 9, 1993 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder is under contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 and has been a Swedish national player since 2013 .

Career

Quaison grew up as the son of a Ghanaian and a Swede in the Stockholm district of Akalla. At the age of five he started playing football at Järva SK and in 2000 he joined the youth team at the AIK professional club . There he went through the individual youth teams before he was transferred to the third-class Division 1 in 2011 to cooperation partner Väsby United . Under coach Thomas Lagerlöf he was a regular right away; after eight goals in 17 games he reached a relegation place to the Superettan with the team around Osman Sow and Christofer Eriksson . Both games were lost against IFK Värnamo . At the same time, he was on the bench in several AIK games in the Allsvenskan from autumn on, but was not used.

With his performance, Quaison had made his way into the Swedish U19 team, on the other hand, he was an integral part of coach Andreas Alm's first division squad from the preparation for the 2012 season . In the 0-0 game against Mjällby AIF at the start of the season he made his debut as a substitute for Daniel Tjernström in the Allsvenskan, and a few weeks later he had started several times. This also made him the focus of the Swedish U21 team . By the end of the season he played in 18 games in the Allsvenskan for AIK and scored two goals; as fourth in the table he missed a place in the European Cup with the team.

In January 2013 national coach Erik Hamrén Quaison nominated alongside his teammates Niklas Backman , Alexander Milošević , Martin Lorentzson and Daniel Majstorović for participation in the Thai King's Cup . In the semi-final win against North Korea on penalties he made his debut as a substitute for Simon Thern , in the 3-0 final win over Finland he was one of the goalscorers with Tobias Hysén and Anders Svensson . In February, the club finally extended his contract runs until the summer of 2015. In July 2014 moved Quaison for US Palermo in Serie A .

In January 2017 he joined the 1. FSV Mainz 05 , with which he received a contract that runs until 2021. In the second half of the 2016/17 season , he scored one goal in eleven league games. In the following season he completed 24 league games (15 in the starting XI), in which he met four times. Since the 2018/19 season he has been a regular starting line-up as an attacking midfielder or as a striker alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta .
