Fotbollsallsvenskan 2011

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 2012 was the 88th season of the highest Swedish football league . According to the general schedule published at the beginning of December 2010, the season was played between April 1 and November 4, 2012. Due to the European Championship finals 2012 , a summer break took place between May 23 and June 30.

Playtime

mode

16 teams played for the Lennart Johansson Cup , which is a trophy for the Swedish championship title, as well as for a place in the European Cup and against relegation to the second-rate Superettan in the first and second leg on 30 match days .

The league leaders after the last match day were awarded the title of Swedish national champions and will take part in qualifying for the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League . The two teams placed behind will qualify for the 2013/14 UEFA Europa League alongside the winner of the national cup, which will be determined by the summer of the following year . The two bottom of the table were relegated directly to the Superettan, the third-bottom competes in a relegation round consisting of a return leg against the third-placed table in the second division.

Season course

Change of coach

After the end of the previous season, there were some coach changes. During the current season, IFK Göteborg announced the new signing of Mikael Stahre for the new season, who inherited the coaching duo Jonas Olsson and Stefan Rehn , whose expiring contracts had not been extended.

Shortly after the end of the season, Magnus Haglund announced his departure as head coach at IF Elfsborg , whose team he had coached for eight years and led to the championship title in the 2006 season . The club signed Jörgen Lennartsson , who had previously worked at Stabæk Fotball in Norway, as his successor , and signed a two-year contract with him.

Örebro SK , who were at the bottom of the league at the time, made their first coaching change during the current season during the summer break at the beginning of June. After the team had failed to win the first twelve games of the season, Sixten Boström was relieved of his duties and Per-Ola Ljung , who had recently been dismissed as assistant coach at last year's double winner Helsingborgs IF and replaced by Stefan Schwarz , was signed as the new head coach.

Only a few days later there was another coaching change when Conny Karlsson resigned from Helsingborgs IF on June 13th in protest against Ljung's dismissal and due to the already tense relationship with sports director Jesper Jansson . The Norwegian Åge Hareide , who worked for the club between 1998 and 1999 and was the championship winner at the time, took over as head coach the following day a few days after retiring from the Norwegian first division club Viking Stavanger .

On July 22nd, Alexander Axén resigned from his coaching assignment at the Gothenburg club GAIS , and his previous assistant Kjell Pettersson subsequently took over his duties on an interim basis. On July 31, 2012, the club introduced the Dutchman Jan Mak as the new trainer until the end of the season in November.
