The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1976 was the 52nd season of the highest Swedish football league . Between April 11 and October 24, 1976, the Swedish football champions were played in it.

Halmstads BK , only re-promoted to the Allsvenskan in 1974 and barely escaped relegation in the previous year, caused a surprise under coach Roy Hodgson and was able to conquer the Von Rosens Cup as Swedish champion for the first time . This dethroned the double winner of previous years Malmö FF , who had to be content with the runner-up and the Svenska Cup . At the bottom of the table Åtvidabergs FF , at the beginning of the decade twice champions, and the then record champions Örgryte IS could only occupy the relegation places and were relegated to the second-rate Division 2 .
