Fotbollsallsvenskan 1959

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 1960 was the 36th season of the highest Swedish football league .

After the championship was played for the first time in the history of the Allsvenskan last year within the calendar year, twelve teams fought again for the title between April 18 and October 16, 1960. The euphoria that broke out after the Swedish national team became vice world champion at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden could not quite be sustained, but it was possible to keep the average attendance at just over 10,000 fans per game.

At the end of the season IFK Norrköping succeeded with 17 wins this season and one defeat in 22 games, the ninth league title since 1943, the first title in the club's history. The league was so dominated that the runner-up IFK Malmö was seven points behind. Also curious was the fact that third-placed Örgryte IS was only six points ahead of the relegation places, which last year champions Djurgårdens IF and promoted Jönköpings Södra IF occupied.

Since the European Cup season began at the end of August, the leader of the first half of the season (IFK Malmö) was registered for the European Cup of National Champions 1960/61 .
