Fotbollsallsvenskan 2010

The Fotbollsallsvenskan 2011 was the 87th season of the highest Swedish football league , which was played between April 3 and October 23, 2011. Helsingborgs IF secured the Swedish championship title three game days before the end of the season, and as the 2011 Supercup and Cup winners the club dominated the entire season.

mode

16 teams played in the first and second leg on 30 matchdays for the Lennart Johansson Cup for the Swedish championship title as well as for a place in the European Cup and against relegation to the second-rate Superettan .

The league leaders after the last match day became Swedish champions and were thus eligible to qualify for the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League . The two teams placed behind moved into qualifying for the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League alongside the winner of the national cup . The two bottom of the table were relegated directly to the Superettan , the third-bottom competed in a relegation round consisting of a two-legged friend against the third-placed team in the second division.

Playtime

Season course

At the beginning of the season, last year's champions Malmö FF and Helsingborgs IF , the runner-up and cup winners, found themselves back at the top of the table after four successes at the beginning and, like AIK, were unbeaten after four matchdays, while at the end of the table IFK Göteborg , Djurgårdens IF , Halmstads BK and League newcomers Syrianska FC were waiting for their first success of the season. After Helsingborgs IF had maintained its top position on the following match day despite the first loss of the season against AIK on match day eight, one developed up to the half of the season

Helsingborgs IF claimed the top of the table with a defeat of the season until half-way through the season on matchday 15, followed by Kalmar FF and IF Elfsborg , each three points behind. As fourth in the table, the Gefle IF surprised , who last year only held the class in the relegation games . In the middle of the season IFK Göteborg and Djurgårdens IF had fended off their initial negative trend and moved into the middle of the table. Örebro SK and newly promoted IFK Norrköping took the opposite route : at the start of the season, they were still in the top third of the table, but after a long series of winless games, the clubs slipped in the table. In the bottom third of the table, IFK Norrköping, Syrianska FC, Trelleborgs FF and Mjällby AIF formed a quartet in the fight for relegation, while behind them Halmstads BK was eight points behind a non-relegation place with a win and seven points from 15 games.

Despite a change of coach, Halmstads BK missed the connection to the competition. Already three game days before the end of the season, the team was determined prematurely as the first relegated team after a 0-1 home defeat by a goal by Abgar Barsom in a direct duel with Syrianska FC, who were also relegated before the start of the game. With another negative series, Djurgårdens IF was again close to the relegation ranks, especially since the other competitors had managed to catch up with the rear midfield on points.

Less than 24 hours after the first relegation was determined, the decision was made at the top of the league. Kalmar FF had meanwhile said goodbye to the title race and was replaced in the top trio by AIK, in particular due to his striker duo Ibrahim Teteh Bangura and Mohamed Bangura - both left the club in August during the summer transfer period. While AIK and IF Elfsborg left points in various games, Helsingborgs IF stood out from the competition. The club lost the direct duel against IF Elfsborg on matchday 26, so that the gap was reduced to seven points. On the following day, however, IF Elfsborg lost their away game at Mjällby AIF, while the club from Helsingborgs increased their lead to ten points with a 3-1 away win at GAIS to three outstanding games. This was the seventh time that the team won the Swedish championship. After the team had already won the Supercup before the start of the season , they completed the national triple win two weeks after the end of the season . In the final of the national cup, she beat league rivals Kalmar FF 3-1 with goals from Álvaro Santos , May Mahlangu and Christoffer Andersson and a goal from Erik Israelsson . Due to the championship win of the opponent Kalmar FF is still eligible to start in the European Cup.

Game abandons

Several game breaks, forced by fan riots and the use of pyrotechnics by Ultràs , overshadowed the playing time. The league experienced its first upset on the fifth matchday: The game Syrianska FC against AIK was canceled when Syrianska was 1-0 in the first half after an assistant referee was injured by a firecracker. The game was ultimately rated with a 3-0 win for Syrianska FC, and AIK was sentenced to a fine. The then league leaders Helsingborgs IF was also affected by a game abandonment in the Schonen derby against table runner-up Malmö FF on the tenth match day on May 24th. Immediately after Helsingborgs IF scored a goal from Rachid Bouaouzan , the Pär Hansson club's goalkeeper was fired at with firecrackers before he was attacked by a Malmö FF supporter after a storm. This game was also rated with a 3-0 victory, so that Helsingborgs IF moved back to the top of the table.

On July 30, the game at Malmö's Swedbank Stadium was again abandoned when Malmö FF received Djurgårdens IF on matchday 19. Fireworks were set off again, and a missile launched in the direction of the playing field nearly hit a photographer. Since the perpetrators could not be clearly assigned, the disciplinary committee of the association decided that the game should be repeated. In view of the European Cup games in Malmö FF, this decision created scheduling difficulties, as the club also had to play a catch-up game against BK Häcken in the autumn and all teams - to avoid distortions of competition - should end the season at the same time. This ultimately meant that the team had to play three games between October 13th and 17th - the catch-up games on the 13th and 15th respectively, the regular game against Syrianska FC on the 29th day on October 17th.

Performing in the European Cup

Since Sweden plays within the calendar year, the season that ended in November 2010 constitutes the qualification for the respective European Cup competitions. The number of participants and the round of entry are determined by the UEFA five-year ranking, with the 28th being the relevant On the cut-off date, the national association provided a club as a participant in the UEFA Champions League and, in addition to the cup winners, two other participants in the UEFA Europa League . In addition, the association received a start right on the UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking of the UEFA .

As champions of the 2010 season, Malmö FF qualified according to the rating for the second qualifying round of the 2011/12 UEFA Champions League . There the team prevailed against Faroe champions HB Tórshavn with a 2-0 home win and a 1-1 draw. The club then met Glasgow Rangers and won the first leg at Ibrox Stadium with a goal from Daniel Larsson with a 1-0 win. After a hard-fought second leg - two players were sent off for assault and one after repeated fouls - the Swedish champions rose to the play-off round thanks to a 1-1 draw. There he met the Croatian representative Dinamo Zagreb . After a 4-1 away defeat in the first leg with almost no chance, goals from Wilton Figueiredo and Pontus Jansson caused tension again for a short time, but the 2-0 success was ultimately too little to reach the group stage of the Champions League. With that, however, the team was qualified for the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League , where - drawn from the fourth pot - they were drawn into a group with AZ Alkmaar , Metalist Charkiw and FK Austria Wien .

Last year's fourth IF Elfsborg and fair play third party BK Häcken had to compete in the first qualifying round of the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League, but prevailed against the Luxembourg teams CS Fola Esch and UN Käerjéng 97 with some clear victories . In the second qualifying round, Örebro SK joined, but was eliminated by the Bosnian representative FK Sarajevo . Here cared Kushtrim Lushtaku headlines when it was denied on July 20, traveling to the away game because of its Kosovar citizenship. The other two teams, however, were still successful, IFE defeated Sūduva Marijampolė from Lithuania and BK Häcken knocked out the Finnish club FC Honka with two wins . As the reigning cup winner, the runner-up Helsingborgs IF appeared in the third qualifying round, despite a lost first leg against Bne Jehuda Tel Aviv , the team reached the play-off round. There she was, however, the sole Swedish representative: After IF Elfsborg had ended the first leg against Aalesunds FK with a 4-0 away defeat, a 1-1 draw in the second leg was not enough, BK Häcken was able to win the second leg against Nacional Funchal with 2: 1 win, had lost the first leg with a 3-0 defeat similarly high. The Allsvenskan leaders at the time faced the Belgian club Standard Liège in the play-off games . This turned out to be too strong and rose to the group stage after two wins, so that Malmö FF, as the loser in the Champions League play-offs, was the only Swedish representative to reach the main round of a European Cup.

Change of coach

Just a few days after the end of the preseason, there was a change in the coaching bench in Allsvenskan in November 2010. On November 10th, AIK separated from the Scottish Alex Miller , who was only signed in June of that year , under whose direction the 2009 champions had managed to stay in league position in eleventh place. After a month of searching and discussions about a suitable successor, the club selected former player and assistant coach Andreas Alm as the new coach in mid-December , who signed a contract that was valid until the end of 2013. A few weeks later, the league competitor Halmstads BK presented a new coach after Lars Jacobsson was sacked. The club signed the Spaniard Josep Clotet Ruiz , who had previously won the Swedish championship as an assistant coach with Malmö FF. Responsibility also changed at the newly promoted IFK Norrköping after Göran Bergort's contract was not extended. On December 1, the club presented Jan Andersson as the new trainer who took on a managerial role based on the English model.

The Stockholm club Djurgårdens IF made the first coaching change of the current season on May 3rd of that year. After the team was without a win after six match days with one point at the bottom of the table, the club management changed some responsibilities in the sporting area. In this context, the club separated from Lennart Wass and handed over responsibility to Magnus Pehrsson , who also assumed a managerial role based on the English model. At the end of the month Rikard Norling took over the coaching position at the reigning champions Malmö FF after the Danish champions FC Copenhagen had signed the previous coach Roland Nilsson as the successor to Ståle Solbakken , who had moved to Germany . On July 5, Halmstads BK, who was also bottom of the table and who had only managed one win of the season by the halfway point of the season, followed suit and replaced Josep Clotet Ruiz, who was only signed at the beginning of the season, with Jens Gustafsson .

In the further course of the season there were no further coach changes. In September, however, IFK Göteborg announced that it would not extend the contracts of Stefan Rehn and Jonas Olsson , which were due to expire at the end of the year , and shortly afterwards presented a successor in Mikael Stahre . He had won the double of championship title and cup victory with AIK in 2009 , but his subsequent stay abroad with the Greek first division club Panionios Athens was unsuccessful and he was without a coaching post after his release there in October 2010.

Immediately after the end of the season, Tom Prahl resigned from his involvement with Trelleborgs FF after the club had missed relegation under his leadership, and ended his coaching career. His previous assistant Alf Westerberg took over the vacant position a few days later.

A week later, Magnus Haglund also announced his departure as head coach at IF Elfsborg , whose team he had coached for eight years and led to the championship title in the 2006 season .

The first leg in the relegation took place on October 27th in Ängelholm , when Ängelholms FF received third place in the second division season at their home Änglavallen Syrianska FC. The first division team took the lead shortly after the half-time break through Peter Ijeh , but goals from Sebastian Andersson and Johan Blomberg turned the game in favor of the hosts. The second leg three days later was dramatic: Abgar Barsom had put Syrianska FC in the lead before Sebastian Andersson equalized again for the second division side. Johan Arneng again shot the first division team in the front in the 66th minute of the game, who was outnumbered after being sent off against Marcus Lindberg in the 81st minute . Shortly before the end of stoppage time, ÄFF defensive player David Bennhage extended a cross into his own goal, so that the decision was made in favor of Syanska FC's relegation.
