Lennart Wass (* 1953 in Södermalm ) is a Swedish football coach .

Career

Wass' coaching career lagged behind his family life. In 1989 he left his hometown Stockholm for Gotland to look after the third division club Visby IF Gute , but returned at the end of the year. A short time later, he received an offer of the Stockholm club Djurgårdens IF , Tommy Söderberg to inherit as a coach. With the team around Stephan Kullberg , Jens Fjellström , Glenn Schiller and Anders Almgren , he narrowly missed the championship finals in the 1990 season when he was fifth in the table, and the following year he was also fifth with the club in the extended finals. He put himself in the memory of the fans, because on the one hand the cup victory by a 4-1 win against BK Häcken and on the other hand a 9-1 win in a local derby against Hammarby IF in a league game . Nevertheless, he left the club after two seasons.

A move to Norway to Molde FK failed because Wass decided against going abroad because of his family. Subsequently, he worked on the one hand as a teacher and on the other hand as a supervisor in youth and amateur football. After his last adult coaching position was at FC Café Opera , he took over the management of the Stockholm district's youth team in 2007 together with former soccer player Tommy Davidsson .

In November 2009, Wass was introduced as a trainer at Djurgårdens IF to work as a duo with the previous trainer Andrée Jeglertz . A short time later, however, Jeglertz announced that he no longer wanted to work in a duo and left the club. When Wass initially thought of Davidsson as a partner, he decided, after a veto by the club's management, in favor of the former youth coach of Hammarby IF, Carlos Banda . The club had only managed to stay in the relegation games last year , but reached tenth place in the table in the 2010 season with the team around Johan Oremo , Sebastian Rajalakso , Kennedy Igboananike and Sharbel Touma . After six games without a win at the beginning of the following season, the club separated from him in early May and appointed Magnus Pehrsson as his successor.
