Kennedy Igboananike (born February 26, 1989 ) is a Nigerian soccer player . The striker has made his previous adult career in Sweden , the United States , Greece and Saudi Arabia .

Career

Igboananike played in his home country at the Dynamos Football Academy in Lagos . In spring 2007 he joined the Stockholm club Djurgårdens IF , where he was initially used in the youth team. In the course of the 2007 season he finally came to two short assignments in the Allsvenskan . At the beginning of the following year he was awarded to the neighboring club Vasalunds IF for two seasons in the third-rate Division 1 . With 18 goals this season he contributed to the club's promotion to the second-rate Superettan , where he was similarly successful in the second division season 2009 with twelve goals. He then returned to Djurgårdens IF, where he fluctuated between starting eleven and substitutes' bench. Nevertheless, he was one of the most successful shooters in the league with nine goals this season, and in the 2011 season he scored six goals.

After a conflict with the sports management around Magnus Pehrsson , Igboananike was temporarily banished to the reserve team, after his contract expired at the end of 2012, he joined arch-rival AIK . At his new club he signed a three-year contract. Under coach Andreas Alm he was one of the regular players right away, with 14 goals this season he placed among the top three goalscorers in the 2013 season and thus led the club to runner-up behind Malmö FF . In the following season he could not build on the success, ultimately he scored five goals throughout the season. Nevertheless, the club qualified third in the table again for the qualifying rounds for the UEFA Europa League .

In December 2014, Igboananike left AIK and Sweden to join the US MLS franchise Chicago Fire .
