Tommy Davidsson

Tommy Davidsson (born September 9, 1952 ) is a Swedish former football player and coach . The long-time defender of Djurgårdens IF is now working as a youth functionary.

Career

Davidsson comes from the youth of the Stockholm club Djurgårdens IF . There he was used under coach Gösta Sandberg at a young age in the Allsvenskan and ran parallel for various Swedish youth national teams. Under his successor Antonio Durán , he finally established himself at the side of Sven Lindman , Björn Alkeby and Tommy Berggren in the club's core formation at the beginning of the 1970s . With the eight-time champion in turn, he occupied middle table places in the championship, only in the season 1973 it was enough - with six points behind master Åtvidabergs FF - third place in the table. Even after a coach change to Bengt Persson , he was a regular on the club's defense. In the 1975 season another time third in the table, the club slipped into the relegation battle as a result. In the 1977 season Davidsson fell out of long-term injuries, but the club was able to keep the class. Until relegation at the end of the season in 1981 , he was still running for the club in the top Swedish division, then he ended his active career.

In 1983 Davidsson hired as a youth coach at Stockholm city rivals Hammarby IF . In 1986 he took over the post of head coach at the lower class Huddinge IF , two years later he moved on to Tyresö FF . In 1991 he returned to the youth work of Hammarby IF. In the second division he replaced Kenneth Ohlsson as head coach two years later , under whose direction the return to the Allsvenskan had been missed the previous year. As a season winner, he rose in his first year with the team around Hans Eskilsson , Per Fahlström and Thomas Nilsson in the first division. There she held in the first division season in 1994 only after successes in the relegation games against Kalmar FF the class, at the end of the following season she occupied a relegation place. The club then replaced the coach with Göran Göransson .

In 1997 Davidsson resumed work as a youth coach at Hammarby IF and was responsible for various age groups until 2003. He then moved as head coach to cooperation partner Hammarby Talang FF , who was in danger of relegation. With the fourth division, he managed to stay in the league at the end of the 2003 season. the following year he led the team to the third division, but the club was downgraded in 2005 as a victim of a league reform. The club then separated from him.

In 2006 Davidsson returned to his former playstation Djurgårdens IF as head of the youth department.
