Career

Alkeby made his debut in the 1971 season under coach Gösta Sandberg for Djurgårdens IF in the Allsvenskan. After the club had remained without a title for a long time, Antonio Durán was committed to the following season , who had led Malmö FF to the championship title several times in previous years. Under his leadership, he sat down as a regular goalkeeper between the posts, but the desired title win did not materialize. After initial success under Bengt Persson , the club slipped into relegation battle in the 1976 season . At the side of Tommy Berggren , Anders Grönhagen and Sven Lindman , he was one of the pillars of relegation in the following seasons. After two years in the middle of the table, Alkeby occupied the last non-relegation place with his club in the 1980 season . For the following season, the club signed a competitor, the Englishman Stuart Garnham , but Alkeby played 18 of the 26 league games. In a season overshadowed by various injuries, the team missed relegation. He only missed direct recovery with the club in the relegation games , when local rivals AIK prevailed thanks to the away goals rule . He then left the club, for which he had completed 242 first division games. He later worked for the club as a goalkeeping coach in the youth sector.
